    In Dresden we use a selection of carefully chosen 4* hotels. All rooms have private bathrooms and hotel amenities include a bar and restaurant. Overnight hotels en route are city style or family run and once again all rooms have private bathrooms.

    Your Itinerary

    Day One
    Departure from your local area and travel by coach to the channel port from where we take the short sea crossing to the Continent. After clearing Customs formalities we continue to our overnight hotel. Here accommodation is reserved on a bed and continental breakfast basis.

    Day 2
    After breakfast we continue to make our way to the city of Dresden. Here the next 5 nights accommodation is reserved on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis.

    Day 3

    Today we have a guided walking tour of Dresden, taking in the historic old town, the Zwinger Palace, the world renowned Semper Opera House, Dresden Castle, the Taschenberg Palace and finally the Church of our Lady. The afternoon is at leisure. Dresden is twinned with Coventry

    Day 4
    Our included excursion today takes us to Cranzahl where we board the Fichtelberg Mountain Railway to Oberwiesenthal. This Mountain Railway takes you to the highest town in Germany – Oberwiesenthal. The train has been operating for over 100 years. The journey takes us through pretty villages, dense woodland and luscious meadows. Afterwards we enjoy a guided tour of the loco shed which is then followed by some free time in the town before we re-join our coach and travel to Chemnitz – Hibersdorf. Here we have a guided tour of the Railway Museum.

    Day 5

    After breakfast we travel to Radebeul Ost where we take the narrow gauge steam railway to Moritzburg. Travel on one of the oldest narrow gauge steam railways in Germany, transporting you back to the beginning of the 1900s. Enjoy time in Mritzburg before we continue to Meissen where we have arranged a guided tour of the famous Porcelain factory. Free time before returning to Dresden

    Day 6

    Our final included excursion is to Freital – Hainsberg for a train journey to Dippoldiswalde. The line offers fantastic scenery. Return to Dresden for a river cruise on the Pillnitz, aboard the historic paddle steamer including a 2 course lunch. Pillnitz Palace was the riverside residence of August the Strong – the 18th century Elector of Saxony. Along the route you pass palaces, vineyards and the famous ‘Blue Wonder’ suspension bridge. Explore the Palace at leisure (any admission fees not included) before we return back to Dresden.

    Day 7

    Check out of the hotel following breakfast and commence our journey home. we will make our way to our overnight hotel where once again accommodation is reserved on a bed and continental breakfast basis.

    Day 8
    We continue our journey to the channel port from where we take the short sea crossing to the UK and onwards back to your local area.
