Classic Vienna & the Blue Danube

In Austira we stay for 5 nights at the 4* Hotel Steinberger at Altenglback. This is located in the Vienna Woods. All rooms are well appointed and features include a restaurant, bar, indoor swimming pool and sauna.
Overnight 'stopover' hotels are city style or family run.

Day 1 - Leave from your chosen departure point early morning for the Channel crossing to the Continent. Continue to France for an overnight stay on a bed and Continental breakfast basis.

Day 2 - After breakfast we continue our journey crossing the Austrian border and travelling on to Altenglback. Here accommodation has been reserved for 5 nights on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis at the 4* Hotel Steinberger.

During your stay we have included the following programme of excursions:

A visit to Vienna. You will see the 'Ringstrasse' with its magnificent buildings such as the State Opera House, the Hofburg, the Houses of Parliament, the City Hall and University. Afterwards there will be time to visit the Schonbrunn Palace - the summer residence of the Hapsburgs. (admission - approx. 12 Euros is not included). Afternoon at leisure.

Visit to the Wachau region of Austria and the town of Durnstein. The Wachau is one of Europe's loveliest river landscapes and Durnsteil Castle overlooking the town is where Richard the Lionheart was supposed to be held prisoner for a short time. Continue to historic Krems with time for sightseeing before we board our shop for a picturesque cruise to Melk. During the sailing you can enjoy a wine tasting as well as spectacular scenery.

A visit to Bad Vosalu and Mariazell - a famous pilgrimage destination. During the day we have included a train ride from St Polten to Mariazell.

Lake Neusidl

Following a guided walk through the nearby towns of Rust and Morbish we board a boat to cross the lake to Illmitz. Here we have included a horse drawn carriage ride through the town and surrounding wine growing area
