Blanes is probably the Costa Brava's oldest established resort.  This charming town offers a pleasing contrast of the old fishing port and a modern resort with every amenity.  The beach of coarse golden sand shelves quite sharply and is divided into two by a small rocky headland - to the north a wide promenade leads all the way to the old fishing harbour and town, with tree shaded pavement cafes where you can sit with a cool drink and watch the fishing fleet come in, or shop for bargains in the old narrow streets.

By night there are discos and night clubs, lively bars and some of the finest restaurants in the region, particularly for the delicious locally caught seafood.
