We start with a local departure for our journey to France either by the cross Channel ferry or Eurotunnel. We then continue to our hotel in the Amiens area.
On day 2, after breakfast, we take you to the city of Amiens which nestles on the banks of the River Somme. There is time to visit the cathedral. Afterwards you can see the old quarter – a little like a miniature Venice with its canals and colourful houses. There are also several parks and gardens to enjoy. In the afternoon we visit the popular resort of Le Touquet. The main beach offers miles of white sand and there is also a north beach where the estuary meets the sea. In the town there is an impressive selection of stylish boutiques, restaurants and pavement cafes where you can purchase dinner before we return back to the hotel.
On day 3 we travel to Chantilly. Admission is included to the magnificent Chateau. Our ticket gives you access to the castle, the grounds, the great stables and the Museum of the Horse – all of which you can explore at leisure. Highlights include the large suites on the first floor which were once used as reception rooms by the Princes of Bourbon – Conde: the private suites on the ground floor of the Petite Chateau: and the large le Notre flower bed set around numerous fountains and water features. There is also the great stables – the largest stables in Europe, where you will find the Museum of the Horse which presents the relationship between man and horse since the beginning of civilisation.
On day 4 we commence our journey home arriving back later on.
