There will be numerous activities and attractions around the city for everyone to enjoy, absorbing visitors in a Festival of Culture which celebrates both the city’s maritime heritage and cultural renaissance.
The ships will be open for free public access at set times. Many ships will host exclusive deck events for which tickets may be purchased.
Our special trip starts with a local departure by coach for our journey north. We will take you to Sunderland where there will be a chance to see the stunning spectacle on the banks of the River Wear. Afterwards we continue to our hotel – the Holiday Inn, Darlington North. All rooms are stylishly decorated and the hotel has a bar and restaurant. Dinner is included tonight.
On day 2 we return you to Sunderland. Here you can spend the day at the Tall Ships event, viewing the ships as they are kept on the banks of the River Wear. The city, once known at the largest ship building town in the world, is set to welcome the world famous race. More than 60 ships are expected to be in dock. The ‘Parade of the Sail’ is scheduled for later on. During the evening we return back to the hotel. As dinner is not included tonight it is suggested that you get a bite to eat in Sunderland.
On day 3, after breakfast. We make our way to historic York – famous for its Minster, Shambles and shops. Return home later on.
