We start with a local departure by coach for our journey south. At Torquay we have 4 nights half board accommodation reserved at the Ashley Court Hotel which is set approximately 10 minutes walk from Torquay’s beaches and town centre. There is a restaurant and bar. All rooms are well appointed.
During your stay we have included these great excursions:
- A half day visit to charming Totnes with its lovely riverside walks, Georgian houses and Norman castle ruin. We continue to Buckfast Abbey home to a community of Roman Catholic Benedictine Monks; a place of beauty and tranquility. There is also a large restaurant shops, exhibition centre and beautiful gardens.
- Today we enjoy a trip to Georgian Teignmouth, a traditional seaside resort with a classic Victorian pier, before visiting Dawlish with its golden sand beach.
On 08 June departure ONLY - the following excursions are included:
- Today we board the steam train from Paignton along the spectacular English Riviera Geopark coastline, through the picturesque stations at Goodrington and Churston (non-stopping) then on through the wooded slopes of Long Wood bordering the Dart Estuary to Kingswear. A short foot passenger ferry takes you across the river Dart to the historic town of Dartmouth for some free time before returning by coach to the hotel.
- Plymouth - known for its maritime heritage and historic Barbican district with narrow cobbled streets. Sutton Harbour is home to the National Marine Aquarium where sharks and stingrays glide in a deep tank (admission not included).
